A solid book for a beginner/intermediate learner in DEM

If you are new in the world of discrete and granular material, then you should consider yourself to purchase this book.

This book covers all the basic subject in the world of DEM with a lean and clear explanation, such as:
- DEM formulation and its contact law
- Various type of boundary condition
- Quantifying the stress, strain, and fabric of granular material

During the presentation of subject, it gives a lot of details to elucidate the complexity of many formulation, which is quite a surprise as compared to the other similar books in this field.

It cites also sufficient references in case of you need/want to dig further into the subject.

Wonderfull!
This book saves your time instead of tracking all of the published papers in geomechanics and DEM. Although it hasn't any numerical examples, but each subject is repeated twice and trace so that it sticks in your mind. I highly recommend this book for beginners in DEM.

"In the span of nearly 50 years of priesthood, what is still the most important and most sacred moment for me is the celebration of the Eucharist. My awareness of celebrating in persona Christi at the altar prevails. Never in the course of these years have I failed to celebrate the Most Holy Sacrifice. If this has occurred, it has been due entirely to reasons independent of my will. Holy Mass is the absolute center of my life and of every day of my life. It is at the heart of the theology of the priesthood, a theology I learned not so much from text books as from living examples of holy priests. First and foremost, from the holy Cure of Ars, Jean Marie Vianney. Still today I remember his biography written by Fr. Trochu, which literally overwhelmed me."  (English text of the address given at the International Symposium on the Thirtieth Anniversary of the Promulgation of the Conciliar Decree Presbyterorum Ordinis on Friday, October 27, 1995. St. John Vianney captured my mind, heart, and soul, as a person who struggled life long to bring goodness to the people of Ars. His simplicity of life, acceptance of his limited natural knowledge, drew people all over France to his confessional. He was a seer of souls, and a guide for the down trodden, neglected, broken people of God.
His simplicity of life, child like faith, won over the generosity of the rich so as to provide for the ragged, neglected, and impoverished children of Ars and the surrounding villages.

Craig Pittman, a Florida native, is a reporter for the St. Petersburg Times, and Matthew Waite, who hails from Nebraska, is the Times’s news technologist. Their reporting on wetlands has twice earned the top investigative reporting prize in the nation from the Society of Environmental Journalists as well as the Waldo Proffit Award for Excellence in Environmental Journalism in Florida.

IMO, Paving Paradise should be required reading for all DEP and ACOE employees, all water management district employees, all regional planning council members, all legislators, cabinet members, all elected officials in the state, the Governor and his staff, all developers and real estate brokers and agents. St. Joe and Lennar come to mind immediately. Craig Pittman is my favorite Florida writer, and his work shines in this book. I highly recommend it to anyone who cares about the Sunshine State.

Craig Pittman and Matthew Waite explain why bulldozed and buried wetlands underlie the foundations of thousands of mines, highways, golf courses and shopping malls all over Florida, despite clear federal and state policy calling for no net loss of wetlands. This probing, well-crafted narrative will keep you turning every page of Paving Paradise. The prize-winning pair of St. Petersburg Times will help you understand the "topsy-turvy world where a minus can equal a plus, dry land masquerades as wet, and supposedly scientific test results don't count if they yield an undesirable answer." It might sound depressing, but the truth can help us move forward, or at least have that choice!

From three-decades as government employee -- county, state and federal -- I felt like a streetwalker reading about $5,000-an-hour "escorts" who portray they are providing a valuable public service. This says it all (from page 167): "One of the areas hardest hit was the western side of the Everglades, where the Corps cranked out permits allowing the destruction of some 4,000 acres of swamps and marshes, even as it drew up plans to spend billions of dollars repairing the damage done by man to the eastern side of the River of Grass."

Most complete DJ instructional book I've read

I loved this book! There has never been a more complete book written on this subject i have read. It will teach you about gear, music, techniques, business advice, and the industry as a whole. If you have never touched DJ gear, you will learn everything you need to start doing gigs. If you have DJ'd for a while like I have, you will pick up great tips to rejuvenate your love of it. Really fun read!

Completely worth the money!

I started DJing in 2010. I literally saw a cool DJ video on YouTube and decided it would fun. The next day I found myself at a music store and after 3 hours purchased a controller (outside of my budget and not what I needed in the least). I had to figure out everything - where to get music; how to organize it; how to hook up everything; how to get gigs. There was so much trial and error. This book really compresses years worth of experience into an easy to digest format. I really wish this was available when I started.
