Karen Bonderud who was born and raised in Yellow Springs Ohio grew up practicing Wicca. The ancient tradition was practiced by her predecessors. Karen Felt that practicing Wicca was only part of her duty and diligence here on earth. She wanted to learn more, teach, and education the people of her religion. Karen has been teaching for a number of years through her convent. Karen noticed over the years that many people had a lot of questions relating to Wicca, she found that writing books was the perfect way to answer these common questions and to spread the word about a Wicca. This book is a decent addition to any Wiccan's library, especially if you're a beginner like myself. It helps with so many tips and suggestions. The book takes you from the absolute beginning of having absolutely nothing for your altar to preparing your altar for rituals to helping you with the Gods & Goddesses to break down of each herb for spells and finally onto the spells.

Karen Bonderud is very detailed and helps you step by step with every spell, herb, explanation, etc. This is a great starter book!

I have to give this book FIVE stars because this book made me believe in the power of Wiccan Spells. I am afraid to give it anything less. Seriously, I kinda got this to mess around with my kids for Halloween. This book is no joke. It is very serious. I actually got a little nervous like I could have let something loose just by reading it. BUT...nerves or not...it is such a FASCINATING look inside something that I never considered before that I could not put it down. Reading this book is kinda like playing with a Ouiga board. It may start as a joke, but it rarely ends as one!!! So good and interesting!!!

I'd rather watch paint dry

This is less a story line than a series of statements repeating a message that Pablo Escobar was powerful, wealthy or generous. How someone could dull down such a fascinating story to this level is a literary feat of epic proportions.

I tried. I really really tried hard to finish this book, but 50% in I realised the drivel was eternal and had to cut my losses and walk away. It simply never started. I feel robbed for having spent the money.

Escobar: Drugs, Guns, Money, and Power

This was a very intresting look at Pablo Escobar life. Some of your questions will be answered about pablo like: How much money did he make? The Different types of Transportation he used to ship the Drugs? How he began his life in the drug trade? How Pablo was raised? Overall this book keeps you interested and is a very well written book, although the book is written by Pablo's brother some stories seem a little hard to believe but a very good book, must read.

The irony of becoming one of the 10 wealthiest men in the world and at the same time the most notorious criminal on the planet enticed me to read this book.The impact Escabar had on the American economy was irreversable. A true non-fiction work that was impossible to put down.

As with all Insight Guides, the photography in this book is really enticing. Zenfell did a great job of finding areas off the beaten path, as well as all the "must see" treasures in the western U.S. I used this book along with Insight Guide: On the Road (another stunner, also edited by Zenfell) for several trips and was really grateful to have found them.

Cimorene, princess of Linderwall, is a classic tomboy heroine with classic tomboy strengths--all of which are perceived by those around her as defects: "As for the girl's disposition--well, when people were being polite, they said she was strong-minded. When they were angry or annoyed with her, they said she was as stubborn as a pig." Cimorene, tired of etiquette and embroidery, runs away from home and finds herself in a nest of dragons. Now, in Cimorene's world--a world cleverly built by author Patricia C. Wrede on the shifting sands of myriad fairy tales--princesses are forever being captured by dragons. The difference here is that Cimorene goes willingly. She would rather keep house for the dragon Kazul than be bored in her parents' castle. With her quick wit and her stubborn courage, Cimorene saves the mostly kind dragons from a wicked plot hatched by the local wizards, and worms her way into the hearts of young girls everywhere.

While the characters are sometimes simplistically drawn, adults and children will have fun tracing the sources of the various fairy tales Wrede plunders for her story. Grade 5-9-- The independent princess has been well established in modern children's books, but there can't be a dandier example than Princess Cimorene. Rangy, curious, energetic, matter-of-fact, she rolls up her sleeves and gets the job done with a happy disregard for the traditions of her role. Although her parents want her to stifle her improper interests in fencing, Latin, and cooking, the princess is not about to be forced into marriage with the vapid prince they have chosen. She throws herself wholeheartedly into a career as a dragon's princess, a respectable role, although not one for which one usually volunteers. As she fends off nosy wizards, helps out hysterical princesses, and turns away determined rescuers, Cimorene makes a firm place for herself in the dragon world. The story is full of excitement, sly references to the staples of fantasy and fairy tales, and good humor. Cimorene is of a sisterhood that includes Menolly, the dragonsinger of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonsong (Atheneum, 1976); and Avi's Morwenna of Bright Shadow (Bradbury, 1985), but Wrede's delightful voice is all her own. Her previous books have generally been played as YA or even adult fiction, but Cimorene is so much fun that once younger readers discover her here, many will want to search outthe earlier titles. Fabulous! A Great Read!

I was looking at the interview with J.K. Rowling when I saw the sign 'What to Read After Harry Potter.' I immediately clicked on, eager to see what was recommended. And I saw this fantastic book. I began my journey into the kingdom of Linderwall last year. I gleefully followed Cimorene on her adventures as the Kazul's (a dragon's!) princess, and couldn't WAIT for more. But no matter how many book stores I looked in I couldn't find the rest of the series. So imagine my delight when I looked here. Dealing With Dragons is an incredible read. It has everything a book needs: excitement, adventure, a touch of romance, and a highly believable main character. Who can honestly say that they haven't felt the way Cimorene does: sick and tired of their life, in her case a boring life of a princess, with nothing better to do then 'lady-like activities'. So the princess sets out to stop being a princess, with a great outcome. Turning away princes who come save her? As if she needs saving! It's a wonderful twist on the fairy tales of weak princesses being captured by vicious dragons, and being saved by the big strong princes. Cimorene volunteers to be a dragon's princess; if anyone needs saving it's those princes who come to 'rescue' her. I definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone. And the last thing I say is, "ENJOY!"

This is one of those books the I keep coming back to.

I never had the chance to read the Enchanted Forest Chronicles as a child or young adult. I didn't like books and thought they were boring. I think it was that I'd not found "my series." You know the one. The series that snares you and you can't get free, and you enjoy every struggle and strangle and twist and turn. Harry Potter was that book for many people in the last few years.
I gave Dealing With Dragons a shot after a friend recommended it, and I was hooked. The humor and wit, the clever twists to classic fairy tales, and (especially) the unique and colorful characters made me love reading. I am a slow reader by nature but I powered through the series.
I don't believe in giving 5 star reviews. Everything can be improved upon, everything can be made better some way; but for the life of me I can't think how Dealing With Dragons, and by extension The Enchanted Forest Chronicles, could get much better. That said I am sorely tempted to break my rule and put a 5 on this.
I can not recommend this book enough. I only hope my series becomes your series too.

A good gift book for pre-teens to teenage

On the advice of a younger correspondent, I bought two copies of this novel to use as gifts for pre-teen girls. It is a delightful book for readers in any age group, and is suitable for reading to younger children.
A princess could not have a real career, it just wasn't done, so when a princess finds herself faced with an arranged marriage and confinement to a stuffy life at court with a booring husband, she escapes to live with dragons. Events get somewhat humorous when various princes seem convinced that they have to fight the dragon to rescue her.
The troubles of the princess are increased by the intrigues of evil wizards and the political machinations of some of the dragons. There is a friendly witch to lend a helping hand, various magic mixed in, and another princess or two waiting for a prince to rescue them from their dragons. It all adds together to make an interesting story.
The story is roughly at the reading level of the Harry Potter novels. This is the first novel in a series which has several sequels you might also consider.

About the Author
Michael Hitt is a University Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Texas A&M University and a Distinguished Research Fellow at Texas Christian University. Michael received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado. He has coauthored or coedited 26 books and authored or coauthored many journal articles. A recent article listed him as one of the 10 most cited authors in management over a 25-year period. The Times Higher Education 2010 listed him among the top scholars in economics, finance and management based on the number of highly cited articles he has authored. A recent article in the Academy of Management Perspectives lists him as one of the top two management scholars in terms of the combined impact of his work both inside (i.e., citations in scholarly journals) and outside of academia. He has served on the editorial review boards of multiple journals and is a former editor of the Academy of Management Journal and a former coeditor of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. He received the 1996 Award for Outstanding Academic Contributions to Competitiveness and the 1999 Award for Outstanding Intellectual Contributions to Competitiveness Research from the American Society for Competitiveness. He is a fellow in the Academy of Management and in the Strategic Management Society, a research fellow in the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers and received an honorary doctorate from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He is a former president of both the Academy of Management and of the Strategic Management Society and a member of the Academy of Management's Journals' Hall of Fame. He received awards for the best article published in the Academy of Management Executive (1999), Academy of Management Journal (2000), the Journal of Management (2006), and the Family Business Review (2012).

R. Duane Ireland is a University Distinguished Professor and holder of the Conn Chair in New Ventures Leadership in the Mays Business School, Texas A&M University. He teaches strategic management courses at all levels. He has more than 200 publications. His research, which focuses on diversification, innovation, corporate entrepreneurship, strategic entrepreneurship, and the informal economy, has been published in an array of journals. He has served as a member of multiple editorial review boards and is a former editor of the Academy of Management Journal. He has been a guest editor for 12 special issues of journals. He is a past president of the Academy of Management. Dr. Ireland is a fellow of the Academy of Management and a fellow of the Strategic Management Society. He is a research fellow in the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers and received an award in 1999 for Outstanding Intellectual Contributions to Competitiveness Research from the American Society for Competitiveness. He received the Falcone Distinguished Entrepreneurship Scholar Award from Syracuse University in 2005, the USASBE Scholar in Corporate Entrepreneurship Award from USASBE in 2004, and the Riata Distinguished Entrepreneurship Scholar award from Oklahoma State University in 2014. He received awards for the best article published in Academy of Management Executive (1999), the Academy of Management Journal (2000), and the Journal of Applied Management and Entrepreneurship (2010). He received an Association of Former Students Distinguished Achievement Award for Research from Texas A&M University (2012). In 2014, Dr. Ireland was listed as a Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher (a listing of the world's most influential researchers), and he was also listed as one of The World's Most Influential Scientific Minds (a listing of the top cited researchers in science around the globe).

Robert E. Hoskisson is the George R. Brown Chair of Strategic Management at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, Rice University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California-Irvine. Dr. Hoskisson's research topics focus on corporate governance, acquisitions and divestitures, corporate and international diversification, and cooperative strategy. He teaches courses in corporate and international strategic management, cooperative strategy, and strategy consulting. He has coauthored 26 books, including recent books on business strategic and competitive advantage. Professor Hoskisson has served on several editorial boards for such publications as the Strategic Management Journal (current Associate Editor), Academy of Management Journal (Consulting Editor), Journal of International Business Studies (Consulting Editor), Journal of Management (Associate Editor) and Organization Science. His research has appeared in over 130 publications, including the Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, Journal of Management, Academy of Management Perspective, Academy of Management Executive, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, California Management Review, and the Journal of World Business. I personally do not recommend buying this book

Amazon took a whole six days before even mailing this to me, so it showed up another quite a bit after that, the very night before the class. I managed to read one chapter, needed to read two, sort of pissed me off that it took so long to get here in the States! Don't know if I will use Amazon fulfillment again after this.

The text is something you could rent for the class, then return. Some chapters, just about sentence in the book has a number for the references at the back at the chapter. So, although it contains some interesting concepts, to me there is not a whole lot of original thought here that is not already covered in your earlier class text books. A lot rehashing things from early texts and even other chapters. Sometimes things are stated a bit nebulously. Reminds me too much of the International Business class I just took, it's knowledge that won't stand still and will change, so it is not necessarily foundational or something you would retain in a professional library as a reference. I personally do not recommend buying this book. My professor said it is a well respected text, but I am not so impressed. Typeface is small and hard to read if you have glasses like I do. I use 2.75 power reading glasses for it. We are not using the Case Studies at all, which are about half of, or the second part of the book. Maybe the real magic lies there, but we are not using them, so I will just read all the chapters and return it, only 5 left. I only keep the hard core books for my MBA library, for subjects like Accounting and Comprehensive Financial Management. I do not see value in buying this book. Rent it, read it, return it.

Comprehensive and Insightful

This is a comprehensive book on strategic management with a focus on competitiveness and globalisation. The authors clearly, thoroughly and methodically discuss the strategic management theory and concepts and provide interesting insights, concepts, tools and perspectives for effective strategy formulation and implementation.

The book is well written, well presented and has several useful and helpful case studies that reinforces the concepts and ideas presented in the book. It is very practical and with many good examples. I would recommend strategy consultants and senior business executives to read this informative, practical and insightful book on strategic management. The book is also useful and handy for students doing an MBA or other postgraduate studies in business.

Refreshing outlook!

I have never heard of this author and for a lot of people that would be a turn-off. But I find it to be exciting. I like to see what people do and how people write. This book really blew me away.

Kenneth Creech manages to bring LGBT characters to light in a way that is refreshing, non-stereotypical, real and true. I instantly connected with Caleb and his sassy confidant, who mirrors my best girlfriend. The paranormal aspect of the book drew me in and provided a sense of mainstream to the book.

Without giving away anything, I will say that this book is worth way more than the amount he is asking for. I gladly would have paid more for this book. I loved it and think you will too!

A Great new author!

Good storyline, awesome characters, and really good twists of plot. WOW! The only problem was it's really too short:)
I really look forward to his next book. I wish it would have lasted. This is a good book that I would encourage anyone who's into this genre to buy. You won't be disappointed.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that it is or isn’t real. But, I’ve always figured that if the supernatural are real, they would live and work, unwittingly, amongst us. That is what would make sense. To me, at least. And not simply in a one specific role either, but as fully integrated into society as the non-supernatural. Take my current bus driver for instance. He could be fey, for all I know. Or a shifter, if his growls are anything to go by.

Oh, stop that whirring brain of yours; I can hear your derision from over here! But, you thinking I have lost my mind is not so strange. After all, there are no such things as Elementals, Fey, Vampires, or Shifters. Or are there? It stands to reason that, if they are real, they would conceal their true identity from the normal, ordinary people. Let’s face it, humans have shown time and time again their fear and disdain of anyone different to themselves. Be it someone’s colour, their gender, their religion, their sexuality…

So, unless someone proves me wrong, the preternatural are amongst us and my neighbour could just happen to be a goblin.

Awakened tells the story of seventeen year old Caleb. From a young age he knew that he was adopted, but he never knew the full truth about his birth parents. Nor did he want to. They gave him away!

Working as a night clerk in a hotel, trying to save enough money to go to college whilst also paying rent and everything else, is about as complicated as life gets for him. Until, one day on his way to work, Caleb gets into a car accident. When someone pulls him out of the wreck and near drags him to a waiting car, without so much as a hint of common courtesy, and sets Caleb’s car alight before rushing off, life becomes a whole lot less uncomplicated. Not that that’s a bad thing. Necessarily. Even if he could do without all the training.

Kenneth Creech has written a story full of complex characters. Practically no one is who they seem to be in the first instance. Don’t get me wrong, the development in each of the characters is required to get to the end of the story. But, some of the changes are downright surprising.

The plot in this story is new, yet familiar which creates a wonderful read without too many upsets. That is not to say that this is not an interesting read; it definitely is. But, like the setting of this book, it is more comforting than challenging.

My main problem with this story is the editing. Fine, there are no major spelling errors or plot holes. But punctuation exists to make reading easier. More importantly, the Oxford comma has never hurt anyone! Yet, in this read it seems that the editor got bored with adding them and decided to… well… leave them out. Not that there is no punctuation, but there simply isn’t enough of it. You could say, “Well, it’s a story written for young adults and that’s the way they speak” and you would have a valid point; it is part of the vernacular. That does not make it right to throw away all conventions. If anything, it proves the import of using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Notwithstanding my issues, this was a pleasant read and I am glad I had the opportunity to review it. As for my rating, 4 out of 5 stars.
