Qualifications:- B Sc. (Physiology, Biochemistry, Genetics) Diplomas in Osteopathy, Massage, Manipulative Therapy, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Thought Field Therapy. Indian Massage:- 25 years in clinical practice, mainly on musculo-skeletal conditions, but was called upon to treat a very broad range of conditions, including “Nisha”, who came because she didn’t grow. Am I a leader in the field? As far as I know I am the only one in the field. No one else has extracted these practices of the IVC from the evidence, and few therapists approach treatment as I do. My approach is different. I look for the reasons why a patient keeps hold of muscular tensions. Often emotional 'baggage' is locked into the tissues as Trigger points that project pain into another part of the body. I describe how a combination of precise physical treatment with well placed verbal cuing, will reveal the locked in emotions. The natural inner flow of energy is unblocked and enhanced by a special massage technique. This clears out the emotion and relaxes the tight muscle. It can relieve them of chronic physical suffering. I treat the patient as a living being who needs compassion and a context in which they can let go of locked in injury. I show how the IVC ‘anticipated’ the modern scientific ideas of how stress creates real physical and physiological damage to the body. They also made a most significant contribution to philosophy and found practical ways to make a large civilization fair and just. I follow the chain of evidence from the IVC to the present day and demonstrate that we all owe a considerable debt to the IVC. Are You A Bathe-ist At Heart?

Leigh Martin's "Journey to Paradise" begins with an intriguing look at the ancient Indus Valley Civilization (IVC), which 'got it right' for over 700 years. For that reason alone, "Journey" is well worth reading:
"The IVC developed an economic system and ideology that was unique. It was successful. It brought together many different people into a commonwealth of peace, production and trade. It built great cities that kept their people well fed, clean and living in privacy. It did not have enormous inequalities of material wealth, but made a serious effort to spread its wealth equitably."
Martin, an experienced professional healer, then brings the IVC to life in a practical way by tracing evidence of the practices of this vanished civilization to the present day. In so doing, he has compiled an impressive manual of well-being. It includes such treasures as: bathing away tension (he terms the IVC inhabitants "Bathe-ists"), healthy diet, exercise, sharing and honest exchange, gratitude, laughter, and caring massage. If you are interested in nurturing sexuality, you will find Martin's relaxed sexual union prescription especially refreshing and...inspiring:
"`Success' is not measured in the usual terms of how good the climax of physical orgasm was, but in the depth the union of lovers and the height of pleasure that gives."
As you retrace Martin's IVC-inspired practices, you receive a heavy dollop of his worldview. However, it's a particularly knowledgeable and egalitarian one, so you may actually enjoy it!
